Implementing Metascience: Putting Ideas into Practice
Abstract

Metascientists often identify areas for improvement in science, and propose opportunities for change. Yet implementing these proposed changes is challenging and many ideas never gain traction following their initial proposal. This virtual symposium brings together researchers and practitioners to reflect on the process of translating metascientific research into tangible interventions to improve the way science is practiced, disseminated, and evaluated.
The moderated panel discussion will include brief, action-focused introductory presentations of efforts to translate metascience into changes in behavior, policy, and practice at both the individual and institutional level. This will be followed by a moderated discussion on successes, lessons learned, and challenges, which can help inform and inspire future implementation efforts in metascience and beyond.

This session will be moderated by Nicholas DeVito of the University of Oxford and has confirmed panelists discussing transparency in biomedical research and Registered Reports. The aim of this virtual symposium is to share knowledge and build a community across a broad group of stakeholders and disciplines working to bridge metascience into practice.
