Serge’s research is within the field of Science and Technology Studies, focusing on the organizational and systemic factors of science promoting or hindering the responsible conduct of research. In his doctoral dissertation (defended in February 2020 at Radboud University), he studied research integrity and the scholarly peer review system. In his current work, he extends these to include aspects of research quality, open science, and public trust in science. He is particularly interested in the relations and interactions between formal structures, social dynamics, and individual research practices.
