Event Details

Metascience 2023 will be an in-person conference on May 9-10, 2023 from 8:30am-5:30pm ET. The registration fee is $85 for students, $150 for non-students. A streaming option will be available for limited sessions (registration coming soon). Additionally, Metascience 2023 will include free virtual symposia pre-conference events in April and the beginning of May for a global audience.

About

The Metascience 2023 Conference, at the National Academy of Science (NAS) Building in Washington, DC, is a global gathering to connect the study of science across disciplines, methodologies, and regions. It follows the inaugural Metascience 2019 Symposium held at Stanford University and Metascience 2021 Conference held virtually.

The NAS building, located in the Foggy Bottom area of Washington, is served by Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA), Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) plus Union Station train station. It is accessible by Metro’s Orange, Silver, and Blue lines.

NAS Building Requirements

Visitors must show a valid government ID (or a digital photo of the card) to the security staff at the NAS Building when they enter the facility.

COVID-19 Updates and Guidance
As of March 20, 2023, COVID-19 proof of vaccination requirements are no longer in effect. Wearing a mask or respirator is not a requirement, but anyone who chooses to wear one should feel free and comfortable to do so. The guidelines could change without notice, so please review NAS’s operating status prior to the event.

Attendees are encouraged to wear a mask if they wish to do so and masks will be available at the registration table.

Parking at NAS

The NAS Building does not have a dedicated parking area. Metered parking spots can be found on the streets, however, most have a 2-3 hour limit. Street parking is first come, first served. There are several private parking lots nearby, including:

Metro Directions to NAS

1. Take Metro’s Orange, Silver, or Blue Line to the Foggy Bottom-GWU station.

2. Turn RIGHT on to 23rd Street NW when you exit the station.

3. Walk SOUTH on 23rd Street NW for approximately 7 blocks.

4. Turn LEFT on to C Street NW (after the State Department).

5. Cross 22nd Street NW. The next building on your right will be 2100 C St NW or enter 2101 Constitution Ave NW.

Flying

Reagan National Airport (DCA)
DCA has mostly US-based flight options with a hub for American Airlines. It is located 4 miles from NAS. Approximate 10-20-minute drive to NAS with public transportation options.

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
IAD is located 27 miles from NAS with a larger option of national and international flights than DCA and is a hub for United. Approximate 35-minute drive to NAS with public transportation options.

Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)
BWI is a focus city for SouthWest Airlines. BWI is located 36 miles from NAS. Approximate 45-60 minute drive to NAS with public transportation options.

Train/Bus

Union Station DC
Union Station DC is served by Amtrak’s high speed Acela Express and many Amtrak regional and national routes. Along with Amtrak, regional commuter rail MARC (serving Maryland/West Virginia) and VRE (serving Northern and Central Virginia)and multiple intercity bus services are located there. Approximate 10-25 minute drive to NAS with public transportation options.
