Sabina Leonelli is Chair of Philosophy and History of Science and Technology at the Technical University of Munich, where she directs the Ethical Data Initiative and co-directs the TUM Public Science Lab. Until 2024, she was Professor of Philosophy and History of Science, Director of the Centre for the Study of the Life Sciences (Egenis, 2013–2024), and lead of research on “Data Governance, Openness and Ethics” for the Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (IDSAI) at the University of Exeter, where she holds an Honorary Professorship.

After earning a BSc (Honours) in History, Philosophy and Social Studies of Science at University College London in 2000 and a Master’s in History and Philosophy of Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2001, Sabina completed a PhD in Philosophy at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2007. She then worked as a Research Fellow in the Department of Economic History at the LSE under the mentorship of Mary Morgan before joining the University of Exeter in 2008.
